Description
ENG – Pandesal is the most popular bread in the Philippines, and considered as an “all around bread”. It is usually eaten by Filipinos during breakfast, but can be eaten any time during the day, or during “merienda” time. It can be filled with jam, spreads, meat, and many more. It is a bread that can be partnered with multiple Filipino dishes.
It’s name comes from the Spanish word meaning “salt bread” and it originated during the 16th century era of Spanish colonization in the Philippines. However, the recipe and taste have changed over time, and it is not as salty as the name suggests. Pandesal is known for its pillowy texture and breadcrumbs on top.
Each bread weighs 40 grams.
